Why Am I Getting This?If you're reading this page, it's probably because you got a link to it from my in-world update server. You should have got a message like the following:
Dale Glass is offering you 'TrustNet Scanner'. This is attempt 1 of 3 that can be made in a week. See http://daleglass.net/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=FreeScanner for more information.
You're getting this message because the avatar indicated in the message you got offered you a free copy of it. Due to resource constraints, my scanner isn't transferable and is instead distributed through an in-world server.
What Is It?You're being offered a free copy of the TrustNet Avatar Scanner.
TrustNet is a reputation system that's intended to provide an useful alternative to SL ratings. Instead of having global scores, TrustNet calculates scores specifically for you based on your, your friends' and their friends' opinions. See the TrustNet page for more information about it.
The avatar scanner you're being offered is a HUD that shows a list of the 16 nearest avatars, as well as the distance, age, payment data and TrustNet score. See the TrustNetAvatarScanner page for more information about it.
What If I Do Not Want It?If you do not want it, simply ignore the offer. The system enforces a limit of 3 delivery attempts to an avatar per week, so you'll never get offers more often than that. Also, deliveries for avatars who already used the scanner aren't accepted, so you can stop all attempts to give you a copy permanently by:
You can also mute the update delivery object, but have in mind that doing that it will stop you from getting updates if you decide to get the scanner after all.
